We celebrated Fiji Day on Friday, Week 1 of term 4 with a beautiful, informational display in the library about Fiji and the process leading up to Independence day. Throughout the week, I read the book "Mean and nasty toatoa" written by Diane and Simione Beranaliva. The illustrator spent his childhood in Suvavou village, Lami. In the book, he tells the story of his encounter with the nasty toatoa (lion fish) on one of his Sunday expedition to the Suvavou reef. This Non fiction book is beautifully illustrated and depicts the life of a young Fijian boy living by the sea. A perfect book to read leading up to Fiji day assembly! |
