The United Nations General Assembly has declared 2019 the International Year of Indigenous Languages (IY2019) to raise awareness of the crucial role languages play in people’s daily lives.
The Fiji Museum is pleased to present to International Secondary School a copy of its recently digitized 500 hours of analogue Audio and video material which characterize an array of sounds and diverse topics relating to the cultural expression of the iTaukei people in Fiji, recorded in the 1970s. Some of these sounds are very unique and rarely heard nor practices in today's modern society.
